The village is some 3.5 miles north of Marlborough. The village has a primary school, village hall, parish church, hotel and a 17th century Inn. There is also a nearby golf club. Marlborough is an English market town of exceptional quality. The High Street is the second widest in Britain and has well known retailers such as Waitrose and Sainsburys, Phase Eight, Monsoon and Pizza Express as well as many independent shops, restaurants, tea rooms and delicatessens. The independent school Marlborough College is based in the town and state secondary education is provided at St. John’s Academy. William Golding, Nobel prize winner and author grew up in the town.
