Warminster has a long history with settlement seen from the Iron Age, Battlesbury Camp being one of the most significant Iron Age forts in Britain. Both Stonehenge and Avebury are also nearby. Modern Warminster has a population of around 20,000 people and is close to both Longleat and Centre Parcs. Open Countryside surrounds the town, to the south of the town is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty while to the north are rolling hills, the valley of the River Wylye lies to the south and west. Warminster has a modern town centre with national chains such as Boots and WH Smith and Morrison’s Supermarket. The town has numerous primary and secondary schools including the Independent Warminster School and Bishopstrow College, whilst Dauntsey’s Independent school can be found on the edge of Salisbury.
