Frome is an historic market-town in north-east Somerset at the eastern end of the Mendip Hills and 13 miles south of Bath. The town has a population of around 25,000 people with a large number of listed buildings in the centre which is mainly a conservation area. The town has cobbled streets leading into the centre and many 16th and 17th century small houses. The town is also modern with a thriving retail area, Sainsburys, banks and building societies, markets every Wednesday and Saturday, two theatres, a cinema and Arts Centre, two local newspapers and a museum. The town is served by many primary schools, two middle schools and Frome Community College as well as Farleigh College Independent School. Frome also has a Leisure Centre with swimming pool and Gym. The town is most noted today for its thriving Arts scene. Frome is 13 miles south of Bath.
