The Area

It also has a 14th century Grade 1 Listed church and a medieval bridge over the brook. The railway station at Sherborne, with a service to London Waterloo on the west of England mainline, is some 4 miles from the village. Sherborne is acknowledged as one of the most beautiful towns in England. The town has boutique shops, art galleries, delicatessens, antique shops, cafes and restaurants as well as modern supermarkets such as Waitrose. There are also weekly markets that take place in the town. Sherborne is home to the 1000- year- old Sherborne Abbey and the 16th century Sherborne Castle which has a lake and 42 acres of landscaped gardens. The Gryphon secondary school is rated as Good by Ofsted and independent education is offered at Sherborne preparatory school and Sherborne Girls school.
