The Area
Nailsea has a population of around 16000 people and is some 8 miles south-west of Bristol. The Nailsea and Backwell railway station has a direct line to Bristol, Bath and London Paddington. It is 5 miles to J20 of the M5 and 5 miles to Bristol Airport. The town has many amenities including a shopping centre with national chains such as Waitrose, Tesco, Boots and Costa, a Leisure Centre, numerous sports clubs, including cricket, football, rugby and hockey clubs and a golf club in nearby Tickenham. Local amenities include the 300- acre Tickenham, Nailsea and Kenn Moors SSSI and the Backwell Lake Local Nature Reserve. The 19th Century National Trust property Tyntesfield is nearby as is Cadbury Garden Centre. There are many independent shops and pubs in the town. There is a Tuesday Market every week, a Country Market most Fridays and a Farmers Market every third Saturday. The primary schools Kingshill and Grove Junior, as well as the secondary Ravenswood school, are all rated as Good by Ofsted. Independent education is offered at Fairfield School in Backwell and The Downs School as well as Sidcot School in Winscombe. Just eight miles to the north is the City of Bristol, which has all the amenities of one of England’s major Cities, including two Universities, the main shopping centres at Cabot Circus and Cribbs Causeway, excellent independent schools and iconic landmarks such as the Clifton Suspension Bridge.
