Fishponds lies three miles to the north-east of Bristol City Centre. The area is bordered by Staple Hill and Downend and has a population of around 20,000 people living in mainly Victorian houses. There are two large Victorian parks, with the River Frome running through both parks and the Frome Valley Walkway running alongside Oldbury Court towards the restored mill at Snuff Mills. Eastville park has its own boating lake and central wildlife reserve. Fishponds has numerous pubs, a post office, health centre and library, a high street with local shops such as Boots and supermarkets such as Morrisons, Tesco and Somerfield close by. Bristol City Centre is some 3 miles from the site, offering all the amenities of one of England’s major Cities including two Universities, the major shopping centre at Cabot Circus, excellent independent schools and Heritage Sites such as the Clifton Suspension Bridge.
