The Site

Hanham is a village situated on the eastern outskirts of Bristol, 4 miles from the City Centre and 9 miles from Bath in the constituency of Kingswood. Hanham boasts one of the oldest pubs in Britain, The Blue Bowl, reputed to be a Roman soldier’s tavern, with Cromwell’s army using the pub as a regional H.Q. during the Civil War. Perhaps Hanham’s most famous contemporary resident is Stephen Merchant, co-writer of ‘The Office’, who attended Hanham High. Cribbs Causeway is a relatively easy drive as is Bristol City Centre, offering all the amenities of one of England’s major Cities including two Universities, the large indoor shopping centre at Cabot Circus and excellent independent schools and Heritage Sites such as the Clifton Suspension Bridge.
