The Site

The Area
This large village lies on the northern edge of Salisbury Plain and has a population in excess of 2000 people. It has many amenities, including a supermarket, chemist, doctor’s surgery, post office, butchers, pub and restaurant and a village hall. There is also a library and museum. Both the local primary and secondary schools are rated as Good by Ofsted, one of the leading independent schools, Dauntsey’s school, is just two miles from the village. There is also a notable Grade 1 Listed church. Open countryside surrounds the village offering many local walking routes. Erlestoke Golf Club is some 5 miles from the village. Nearby local attractions include Stonhenge and Avebury, as well as Longleat. Railway stations at Pewsey and Westbury offer a service to London Paddington, being around one hour from Pewsey railway station. The village is within commuting distance of Salisbury, Bath, Swindon, Marlborough and Chippenham. The market town of Devizes is some 6 miles north with many more amenities and a population of some 11,000 people. The town has grown around the 11th century Norman Castle and has in addition some 500 Listed Buildings. There is a weekly market and the town attracts a degree of tourism being close to the ancient Stone Monuments at Stonehenge and Avebury as well as being near to Salisbury. Sainsburys, Morrisons and M & S are all in the town whilst Waitrose is in nearby Warminster. Sports clubs include cricket, rugby, football, netball and athletics.

If you wish to walk onto the plot the consent of the owner is given in these restricted hours via The Land Bank Partnership. A wire fence surrounds the plot but has various points which can be breached without causing damage.
