The village of Connor Downs is situated approximately two miles (3 km) east of Hayle and about two miles south-southeast of Gwithian. The village straddles the old course of the A30 road but has now been bypassed and the new road passes to the north. Facilities include a school (Connor Downs Primary School),a spar petrol station, a pub, a Sunday school, doctors surgery and a garage.
The local area is very popular with tourists. Attractions include St Ives, Godrevy Point and Lighthouse, along with Hayle Beach and Upton Towans Beach.
The village is approximately 4 miles from Camborne town centre and 7 miles from Redruth, both of which offer mainline train services and the full range of supermarkets, pubs, restaurants and conveniences. The village is directly served by the A30, the main trunk road through Cornwall.
