The village is approximately 4 miles from the City of Wells and Shepton Mallet is also within easy driving distance. The village has a primary school, rated as Good by Ofsted, two pubs, village hall, post office and an exceptional village store, winner of the ‘Best South-West village shop.’ Notable buildings include the 15th century church and the 15th century Grade 11 Listed manor house. Secondary education is offered at the Blue School in Wells, again rated as Good by Ofsted, and independent education is available at Wells Cathedral School. To the north-east is the Iron Age Hill Fort Maebury Castle. Wells is the smallest City in England and the splendid Cathedral dates back to the 13th century. Wells has a weekly market and has many fine shops and restaurants as well as a Waitrose supermarket.
