Biodiversity Net Gain, commonly referred to as BNG, is an approach intended to ensure that development leaves biodiversity in a measurably better state than before.
This has created new opportunities for some landowners, particularly those with lower yielding or underutilised land. Fields, awkward parcels and land that is difficult to farm may now attract interest for habitat creation purposes.
BNG agreements are often long-term arrangements and will usually involve specialist ecological input. The suitability of land will depend on factors such as location, existing habitat and the type of enhancement proposed.
At Landbank, we work with landowners, developers and BNG providers seeking suitable opportunities and are happy to discuss whether land may have potential for BNG purposes.
